The lock is made of plastic and the wire is a little thin - however, this lock is simply so useful! You can use it to lock your bike, or even better - your travel backpack when you're out travelling.
The wire is long - and the "wind back" mechanism just works perfectly without any hangups.
A little idea, I'd love if you would incorporate or forward to the makers of this lock: Make an alarm on the lock that goes off if anybody cut the wire - that way, it would be totally theft-proof.
So to buyers: You get exactly what is shown on the pictures and described. I recommend it.
